    Classroom Rules and Procedures

Attendance: As a student it is important that you attend class regularly.  When circumstances prevent you from being in class I need to know. You are responsible for any assignments and work that must be completed for class. If you are absent, you are responsible for making up any work missed. Check with me prior to attending any meeting, music lesson, etc. You are not permitted to be late to class. Entering class late will require an admit from the teacher or person that detained you. Tardiness results in one half hour detention.

General Classroom Rules: All rules existing in the Student Handbook will be enforced in this classroom. When I am not in the room you are expected to stay seated in your seat not touching anything in the classroom. Be on time and be ready for class at all times. Devote your attention to class lecture and discussion while you attend class. Participation is not graded, but you will only benefit by being involved in important classroom discussions. I encourage you to play an active role in class. IPods and Cell phones are prohibited during class.  No food or drink is permitted in the classroom at any time.  A planner is required to leave the room and please try to use the restroom before or after class to avoid disruptions.

Homework: Assignments are used to enhance student learning. Generally assignments will be completed in class, but occasionally some course work must be completed at home. All assignments must be neat and turned in to me on time. No late homework will be accepted. In the event of absences, all work must be turned in the next class period. Arrangements may be made on an individual basis for work to be completed in the event of a lengthy absence. Assignments will be graded on a point system and the total number of points earned by the student will be recorded in the grade-book.

    Cheating Policy

    1st Offense on test/quiz = Failure for 9 Weeks

2nd Offense on test/quiz = Failure for semester

    1st Offense homework = 0 for assignment

2nd Offense on homework = Failure for 9 weeks

3rd Offense on homework = Failure for semester

Quizzes: All material covered in the class or in the textbook is "fair game" for either announced or unannounced quizzes. Quizzes are also based on a point system. If you are absent on the day of a quiz, arrangements must be made for you to take the quiz upon your return to school. Failure to make up a quiz will result in a score of zero.

Tests: tests will be given upon the completion of the outlined subject matter. Advance notice will be given for all major tests. It is important that you learn information on a daily basis instead of "cramming" the day before a test.

Grading Policy: The point system will be used to determine your six weeks grade. The grading scale is as follows:

    90%= A, 80%=B, 70%=C, 60%=D, Below 60%=F

Extra Credit: There may be extra credit opportunities, if you feel you need help see me individually for an extra credit assignment.

Course Requirement: Each student in health class is required to a research project consisting of a 4 page research paper on an approved topic and a PowerPoint presentation.  Failure to do this project results in a failure of health for the year.
