Hello! I am a third grade teacher at Eagle View Elementary School. I teach ELA (aka. reading, writing, grammar, and spelling). This is my 12th year teaching. At Somerset, I've taught third and fifth grade ELA at Eagle View. Prior to that, I taught third grade for 9 years in the Berlin Brothersvalley School District.
My passion for working with children began in high school. I attended Bethel Park High School, which is in a suburb of Pittsburgh. I had the opportunity to work in the preschool located at my high school. I also worked at a daycare after school and in the summer. (I had many experiences babysitting too.) While in college, I had many more opportunities to work with children. I attended Juniata College. There, I worked at the Early Childhood Education Center and had various opportunities to go into the local school district. I graduated from Juniata in May of 2006 with a BS degree in Early Childhood, Elementary, and Special Education. During my undergraduate program at Juniata, I also had the opportunity to study abroad in York, England for a semester. I decided to further my education at Frostburg State University. I graduated in December of 2009 with a MS degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
I am married to Mr. Spangler (the elementary principal at Maple Ridge). I have three wonderful children, Sophie, Jack, and Luke. (We're expecting a new baby in September.) I also have two dogs, Hailey and Comet.
When I'm not working, I love going for walks with my family. I also enjoy reading books and playing games my children too.
